IMportance of a mentor
Contact information |
As many know, the hardest part of accomplishing anything in life is simply just getting the process started. Everyone has goals and dreams that they desire to accomplish but until a move is made to act on them, they will only continue to be goals and dreams. This is where the importance of having a mentor comes into play.
Benjamin Franklin once said, "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." The key to mentoring is the aspect of "involvement". When you have a mentor, not only are you learning from someone who has already arrived at a place where you hope to be but they know exactly what it takes to get to that point. Education can only take the average person so far in life but a mentor can allow for someone to exceed every expectation that he/she has set for themselves. Mentor's are placed into the lives of aspiring professionals in order to help build confidence, gain valuable experience and they become a life long resource and friend. |
Matt Seifers
|
Matt Seifers or more commonly known as Coach, is a man of many accomplishments and talents. Like myself, Coach was born and raised a Hoosier in the heart and soul of Indiana's love for basketball, Bloomington, Indiana.
Formerly a collegiate athlete, manager, and politician the list can go on for the many things Matt Seifers has accomplished throughout his life but his greatest of all is his ability to be an incredible father and teacher. I have had the opportunity to sit alongside Coach Seifers and learn many new aspects of the game of basketball as well as the game of life. Currently a head coach for the Southport girl's basketball program and a director for the Indiana Elite AAU Association, I am very honored and excited to be able to learn from Coach Seifers along with being involved in the many new experiences that I have yet to be thus far in my life. |
